The Right to Bail Campaign has declared no confidence in the Government's proposal to restrict the right to bail and called for a No vote in the referendum.

It claimed the same Government which asked people to trust its judgment on the proposal was responsible for a situation where 16 people accused of serious crime had to be released and re-arrested last week.

Mr Brian Gallagher of the RTBC said bail law changes would result in early prison release to accommodate more remand prisoners.
