Fallen trees and debris caused by gale force conditions were forgotten as thousands of jazz enthusiasts flocked to see over 1,400 performers in 80 venues in Cork over the weekend.

The 25th Guinness Jazz Festival provided a €20 million cash injection for the city which was particularly welcome following a dismal summer when tourism was affected by poor weather conditions up to late July. The stormy end of October weather failed to dampen the spirits of festival goers who watched performances by acts such as Grammy nominated pianist Brad Mehldau, the Larry Coryell trio, John Scofield band and guitar maestro Louis Stewart.
