An 18-month-old girl from north Cork was yesterday in a stable condition at Cork University Hospital after losing a hand in a freak accident, when her five-year-old brother went over her arm on a sit-on lawnmower last Sunday.
It is understood the accident happened when the girl's father left the lawnmower to take a phone call. The girl's young brother got on the machine and it took off and went over the girl's hand as she played on the lawn.
