MADRID - The incoming Spanish Prime Minister, Mr Jose Maria Aznar, ushered in a new era of conservative rule in Spain yesterday by announcing tough austerity measures. His aim, he said, was to wipe out public deficits and prepare Spain for the single European Union currency.
Mr Aznar is expected to take the oath of office before King Juan Carlos on Monday.
