Baku - Azerbaijan wants NATO, US or Turkish troops to be stationed on its soil as a guarantee of security, President Heydar Aliyev's top foreign policy aide said yesterday, in remarks that prompted swift condemnation from Moscow.

"In order to guarantee Azerbaijan's security the US, NATO, or Turkey should establish bases here," Mr Vafa Goulizade, state adviser on foreign policy and Mr Aliyev's top foreign policy official, said.
