The funeral Mass for Ms Julie O'Keeffe, a victim of the fire tragedy in a backpackers' hostel in Australia, will take place today in St Joseph's Church, Limerick, at 11 a.m.

The homily will be given by Bishop Joseph Duffy of Clogher and the funeral afterwards will be to Mount Saint Lawrence Cemetery. The chief mourners are her parents, Mr Jack O'Keeffe and Ms Eileen O'Keeffe, and her sister, Rachel.

Ms O'Keeffe was killed in a fire which also claimed the lives of 14 others at the Palace Backpackers' Hostel in Childers, Australia, in June. The 24-year-old student had graduated from Waterford Institute of Technology and travelled to Australia last January, initially staying with her brother, David.
