Sydney - An Australian couple were yesterday released from prison in Laos after serving four months of a seven-year sentence for embezzlement, Conor Lally reports. They were jailed for stealing A$6.2 million in sapphires from a mine in Laos.

The couple, Kay Danes (32) and her husband Kerry (42) have strongly denied the charges.
