Gardai are investigating an alleged attempted child abduction by a woman in Limerick. The incident took place at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday when a 12-year-old schoolboy was walking home on a footpath at Park Road.

A car pulled up beside him and a woman called on him to get in. He refused and ran along the path with the car following him. It is understood a second attempt was made to lure him into the car before the woman drove off. The latest incident is one of several attempted abductions in the city area in recent months.

Gardai conducted a search of the area and have warned parents and children of the dangers of paedophiles.
