An attempt to force the Ulster Unionist chairman of Fermanagh District Council to resign due to his involvement in Orange Order protests at Drumcree failed yesterday.
It was defeated by the council's 12 unionists who voted against a move by Roslen independent nationalist councillor, Mr Tony McPhillips, the SDLP and Sinn Fein, to suspend standing orders to debate the role of council chairman Mr Sam Foster in the protests.
