At least 27 people, mostly civilians, were wounded today when suspected rebels lobbed two grenades at crowded market places in India's Kashmir, police said.
They said militants had attacked an army patrol with a grenade at Qazigund crossing in south of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
"The grenade missed the target and exploded on the road injuring two army soldiers and 19 civilians," a police official told reporters.
Earlier, six civilians had been wounded when militants lobbed a grenade in the neighbouring town of Kulgam, police said. No militant group has claimed responsibly for the attacks so far.
Nearly a dozen militant groups are fighting New Delhi's rule in Jammu and Kashmir, India's only Muslim-majority state.
