At least 21 people were killed and six others injured when a truck skidded off a highway in Bangladesh on today, police said.

At least 21 people were killed and six others injured when a truck skidded off a highway in Bangladesh on today, police said.

The victims, all labourers, were taking advantage of cheaper fares that private operators charge commuters compared to organised public transport.

"The accident occurred as the truck was speeding at foggy dawn," said a police officer at Tangail 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Dhaka.
