Star-gazers will be hoping for a clear night tonight as an almost full lunar eclipse will be visible across the country, weather permitting.
The moon will be partially eclipsed as it rises at about 8:30pm and according to astronomy Ireland, a mid-eclipse will occur at approximately 10:10pm when 80 per cent of the Moon will be darkened by the
Earth's shadow.
The public has been invited by Astronomy Ireland to view the eclipse from eight locations around the country. Eclipse Watches have been organised in counties: Carlow, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Limerick, Louth and Mayo.
Further details, including details of venues are available at the Astronomy Ireland website.
