A meeting between the secondary teachers' union ASTI and the Minister for Education, Mr Dempsey, has ended this evening without a resolution to the issue of supervision and substitution.
Last night, the union said it was standing by its interpretation of the scheme, that teachers would be paid for being on call for supervision and substitution, whether their services were required or not.
An ASTI spokeswoman said this evening that that a union delegation had met Mr Dempsey and that further discussion would take place.
The delegation was due to meet with representatives of school management this evening.
