Lokomotiv Moscow 0 Arsenal 0
Arsenal and Lokomotiv Moscow are both still looking for their first victory in this season's Champions League after drawing 0-0 in their Group B match in the Russian capital this evening.
The two sides, who both lost their opening matches two weeks ago, picked up their first points, leaving them two behind Inter Milan and Dynamo Kiev, who meet in Milan in the other group match later tonight.
Thierry Henry, who shot just over the bar in the ninth minute, and central defender Kolo Toure, with a glancing header from a corner, came close with first-half chances for Arsenal, while at the other end they had a number of narrow escapes.
The closest was playmaker Dmitry Loskov's corner to the near post which striker Mikheil Ashvetia flicked goalwards with his head and defender Ashley Cole cleared off the line.
Cole had a searing drive from close range parried by Lokomotiv keeper Sergei Ovchinnikov in the 68th and Toure was quick to cut across goal and block Loskov's shot from the left minutes later at the other end.
Arsenal defender Martin Keown admitted the Gunners missed the chance to kick-start their Champions League campaign.
"I think we had enough chances today to win the game. All credit to their keeper," he said.
"They are a good side and it is a difficult place to come to. We were solid and we did well tonight.
"You can't blame the lads up front, they score enough goals for us, but it is important we got that solid look back to our team."
