Manila - Philippine President Gloria Arroyo is likely to emerge with a razor-thin majority in the Senate after one of the most bitterly fought congressional polls, according to an exit poll released yesterday. The Social Weather Stations (SWS) poll of 5,446 people, interviewed shortly after they cast their votes on Monday, showed Ms Arroyo's allies would get eight of the 13 seats at stake, the SWS chief, Mr Mahar Mangahas, said on local television.
