Gardaí at Kevin Street Dublin are appealing for the mother of a baby boy who was found abandoned at a bus stop in the city at the weekend to come forward.

A passer-by discovered the newborn wrapped in tinfoil and placed in a bag at around 12.30 p.m. on Saturday. Gardaí said he was warmly dressed and appeared to be well cared for.

He is currently at the Coombe Women's Hospital where his condition is said to be good. Gardaí are appealing for the mother of the child to make contact with them as there may be concerns for her health. She will be treated in a caring and sympathetic way, gardaí said.
