Dublin city manager Mr John Fitzgerald has called on the Irish Congress of Trade Unions to intervene in the threatened strike by firefighters on Hallowe'en. Mr Fitzgerald has written to ICTU general secretary Mr Peter Cassells expressing his concern at the "risk to public safety" if the strike goes ahead.
