An article published on June 20th, 1998 concerning the appointment of a new Arts Council, stated that Emer O'Kelly, one of the new appointees, was widely perceived to have a conflict of interest in carrying out her duties for the council.
The Irish Times accepts that Ms O'Kelly did not have a conflict of interest nor was perceived to have one and apologises for any suggestion to the contrary.
