CAPE TOWN The entire leadership of the ruling African National Congress, including President Nelson Mandela's cabinet, is expected to seek amnesty for crimes committed in the fight against apartheid.
An ANC spokesman, Mr Ronnie Mamoepa, said yesterday that an internal party committee had recommended that all ANC members who held executive positions since 1961 - except Mr Mandela - apply for amnesty from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The organisation thus would assume collective responsibility for apartheid era crimes committed by its members, Mr Mamoepa said.
