New charges for posting some heavier letters, large envelopes, packets and parcels weighing from 50g to 100g come into effect from today.
The increases, announced a few weeks ago, were not required by ComReg. The cost of posting a standard letter of up to 50g will remain unchanged at 48 cent.
The new charge for envelopes weighing between 50g and 100g will rise from 60 cent to 90 cent. Posting a packets or parcels of between 50g and 100g will now be €2 and €6 respectively.
These mail categories have been open to full competition since January 1st. A new airmail rate of 75 cents for letters to international destinations will also apply.
