Cairo - Amnesty International in a report yesterday accused the Egyptian government of muzzling civil society and threatening freedom of expression, Siona Jenkins reports.

Although Egypt is often thought of as one of the more liberal countries in the Arab world, the report documents the steady erosion of personal and political freedoms that has taken place under the rule of President Hosni Mubarak.
