Kampala - Former Ugandan dictator, Mr Idi Amin, is reported to have been banished from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, following charges that he was organising a shipment of arms to northern Uganda. His Saudi hosts, who gave him refuge after he was ousted from Uganda by a Tanzanian invasion in 1979, are thought to have limited his movements to Mecca.
In cosmopolitan Jeddah Mr Amin has led a comfortable life, with a swimming pool and a Chevvy Caprice car. If confirmed, his exile to spartan Mecca can be seen only as a punishment.
