Aston Villa's Turkish defender Alpay Ozalan believes England will not be helped by only needing a draw against Turkey in Istanbul next month in their Euro 2004 Group Seven qualifying decider.
England are expected to beat bottom team Liechtenstein at Old Trafford in their penultimate qualifier on Wednesday to go one point clear of Turkey in the group standings with only the October 11th clash in Istanbul remaining.
"It may be difficult for England knowing that they only have to draw and that could be dangerous for them," Alpay said today.
"They could play everyone in defence but that won't be a problem for us. It's going to be a great atmosphere and our fans will be very noisy. We want to win and everyone is waiting," he told Villa's official website.
Alpay said 2002 World Cup semi-finalists Turkey were a better team than England despite their 2-0 loss to captain David Beckham's side in their meeting in Sunderland in April.
"We will go into this match feeling very confident. It's a massive game for us. However, we know that we are better than England and that we will win in Istanbul," Alpay said.
Assuming England travel to Istanbul as group leaders, a draw will send the Turks into the play-offs.
Turkey won 3-0 away to Liechtenstein in their penultimate qualifier on Saturday and England came from behind to beat Macedonia 2-1 in Skopje.
