The Alliance Party has condemned an attack in west Belfast on Friday night in which a 22-year-old man was shot in both legs. Cllr Richard Good said any discussion of early prisoner releases in the North should be linked to a total end to all forms of violence. The man, who is from west Belfast, was abducted by four men and driven to the Turf Lodge area, where he was told to lie on the ground before being shot.

Mr Good said the Alliance Party had tabled a dossier containing details of some 900 beatings and shootings over the past two years at the talks Subcommittee on Confidence Building at Stormont last week.
