Alleged sex attack on man in Tralee investigated

An alleged sexual assault on a man in his thirties in Co Kerry is being investigated by gardaí.

An alleged sexual assault on a man in his thirties in Co Kerry is being investigated by gardaí.

It is understood the man was attacked by two other men in the Ballymullen area of Tralee close to 9pm last night.

The scene of the alleged assault has been cordoned off for a technical examination.

It is the fifth case of reported sexual assault in Tralee since April. That month, a teenage girl was sexually assaulted and beaten on the Castlemaine road. Charges in this case are due to be brought before the courts shortly.

However, no charges are pending in the three other cases. Gardaí in Tralee have said they do not believe the assaults are linked.

Elsewhere, a man is being treated in the Mater Hospital in Dublin after he was assaulted on Parkgate Street just after midnight last night. His injuries are said not to be life-threatening.

No one has been arrested in connection with the attack.
