Airtricity is to start a campaign tomorrow in an effort to poach household customers from both ESB and Bord Gáis.

The Scottish owned electricity supplier, which already claims 70,000 business customers, is moving into the domestic supply market which this year saw Bord Gáis mount a vigorous media campaign claiming to undercut the ESB.

It has taken more than 100,000 electricity customers from the ESB in recent months.

Airtricity today said it was offering a 13 per cent savings on ESB rates and would start TV, radio, outdoor and online advertising “to aggressively target the consumer switching market.”

Gas and electricity prices dropped by 12 per cent and 10 per cent, respectively, in May and further reductions are forecast in the autumn.
