Two men were killed at the weekend when their two-seater aircraft crashed into the sea off Cummeen, Strandhill, Co Sligo.
The men were named as Mr Mr Schiller was a German businessman who had settled in Co Sligo in the past few years. Mr Murray was his son-in-law who is survived by his wife and two children.
The accident happened at 6.10 p.m. on Saturday. The microlight two-seater plane had taken off from Sligo Airport a short time before.
The emergency services were alerted and an Aer Corps rescue helicopter from Finner Camp went to the scene, with units from Sligo and Bundoran.
The aircraft, which was piloted by Mr Schiller, had crash-landed in the sea off Cummeen Strand, Strandhill Road, and was submerged. A Garda spokesman said it was believed that the crash may have been due to a mechanical problem which developed shortly after take-off.
Witnesses claimed that the aircraft seemed to stall briefly in midair and then went into a steep dive, crashing on to a sand bank approximately 1.5 miles from the shore.
Flying conditions at the time were reported to be good, with little wind and few other aircraft in the area.
The bodies of men were removed from the scene immediately and taken to Sligo General Hospital. Accident investigators from the Air Investigation Unit of the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications arrived on Saturday evening.
Efforts to retrieve the aircraft wreckage were hampered by the incoming tide.
The two men were believed to have been taking part in an aerial treasure hunt which is an annual event in the area.
