Oslo - Eight aid workers have been killed in southern Sudan after their vehicle was set on fire, apparently by rebels from Uganda, a Norwegian relief group said yesterday.

"There were 11 people in the vehicle and seven died immediately, while another died this morning," Norwegian Church Aid said in a statement. Rebels of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) were believed to have carried out the attack, the group said.
