The body of an Irish man who was stabbed to death in Lesotho last Thursday will be flown home after a post-mortem.

Mr Ken Hickey (75) was a volunteer project manager on a bridge-building project on an Irish Government aid agency-sponsored scheme, APSO. It is believed that he was killed by a gang outside his house and may have disturbed a burglary.

A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said yesterday that no arrangements had been made yet to have Mr Hickey's remains flown back to Ireland as a post-mortem had to be carried out. This, they hoped, would be done quickly.

Mr Hickey, who was from Tipperary, is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
