Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said yesterday that he would have no difficulty working with Michael McDowell if he was elected to lead the Progressive Democrats and became Tánaiste.

Mr Ahern said he had worked closely with Mr McDowell when he was Attorney General and Minister for Justice. "As Minister for Justice he has been very involved in Northern Ireland and I have been working closer with him over the past couple of years."
