A one day strike at the Dublin Institute of Technology, due to take place today, was deferred yesterday after agreement was reached on filling 48 senior lecturers posts in the college.

The Teachers Union of Ireland said it ended more than a year of deadlock during which the college had failed to fill the posts. TUI president Ms Alice Prendergast said the posts would be filled by June from staff in the college.
