Aer Lingus pilots ballot on action

Pilots at Aer Lingus are balloting for industrial action, up to and including withdrawal of services, in a row over rosters.

Pilots at Aer Lingus are balloting for industrial action, up to and including withdrawal of services, in a row over rosters.

Aer Lingus said last night it did not anticipate any operational disruption as a result of the row.

Union sources maintained there was a severe shortage of crew and aircraft and crew had had to be hired in by Aer Lingus over the last month or so. As a result, rosters for pilots were too onerous.

The ballot paper for industrial action criticises management for failing to produce a sustainable manpower plan.
