A drug addict in a stolen car who killed a motorist during a chase by gardai has been jailed for a total of 11 years in consecutive sentences by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Aaron Hoey had absconded from bail on a series of other crimes when he killed Mr Mark Bryan (34) on the Lucan dual-carriageway on May 2nd, 1999. He stole the car earlier that day in Blackrock after telling the owner he was armed with a knife and a screwdriver.

Hoey (21), of South Circular Road, Rialto pleaded guilty to manslaughter, burglary, attempted burglary, criminal trespass, robbery and aggravated burglary on dates from June 1998 to May 1999.
