A Dublin man was suffering heroin-withdrawal symptoms following his arrival at Ballymun Garda station in connection with a murder, a jury in the Central Criminal Court heard yesterday.

Mr John Paul Hayes (22) of Belcamp Green, Coolock, Dublin has denied that on June 13th, 1999, he murdered Mr Francis Moore (33) at his home in Ballymun, Dublin.

Dr Y.M. Fakih, of Crestfield, Whitehall, administered 20 mg of methadone to the accused at Ballymun Garda station following a telephone call requesting his assistance.

Dr Fakih said Hayes told him he had taken heroin before arriving at the station at 8 a.m. on June 14th, 1999.

Dr Fakih administered a further two doses of methadone within the next 24 hours, the court heard.

The case will resume today.
