The High Court has restrained University College Cork from suspending the head of its Department of Economics, Prof Connell Fanning, pending the outcome of legal proceedings taken by the professor against the university.
Mr Justice Smyth also ruled UCC may continue its investigation of an incident in a staff car park on August 31st, in which Prof Fanning was alleged to have grabbed a female colleague around the neck and throat, which he has denied, arising from his concern about his dog's safety and the woman's driving behaviour.
