About 300 rebels were killed and 100 wounded in eastern Chad in fighting on Sunday after rebels launched an attack on a town near the Sudanese border, the Chadian army said, raising the official death toll from 100.
"In its flight the enemy abandoned 300 bodies and more than 100 injured," the army said in a statement. But the death toll could not be independently verified.
