Abbey National is set to create almost 150 jobs in a major new investment at its call centre in Belfast.

Abbey National is set to create almost 150 jobs in a major new investment at its call centre in Belfast.

The financial services company is spending about €8 million over the next two years to build a new customer service centre at its site in Mays Meadow in the centre of the city.

Sixty-three jobs will be created in the first year, with a further 86 in the following year as Belfast becomes the company's main centre for dealing with customer queries.

At the moment, 707 people are employed at the company's call and software centre in Mays Meadow.
