BUDAPEST - A restaurant which charged two Danish tourists and two women companions more than £3,750 for dinner and drinks may be fined £110. Consumer protection authorities began legal proceeding against the restaurant after the tourists complained £110 is the maximum fine.
The restaurant had a policy of multiplying listed prices by a factor of 10 after 7 p.m. According to a photocopy of the bill published, four brandies cost £206, four steaks came to £575 plus £2,000 for a round of drinks for the Gypsy musicians.
The Hungarian menu lists a bowl of goulash soup for £1.85, while the Danes were charged £40 for two servings.
