A woman who claims her card was struck from the rear by a Telecom Eireann driver was awarded £9,000 yesterday despite the phone company's denial that any of their vans was involved.
Ms Mary Mulcahy, of Granite Hall, Dun Laoghaire, said the van drove off after striking the rear of her car while she was parked in Terenure on August 10th, 1993.
She did not get a registration number, and a search of Telecom Eireann depots failed to identify any van or driver.
Dublin Circuit Civil Court heard that the plaintiff suffered neck injuries.

Judge Diarmuid Sheridan said it was a perplexing case and he had considerable hesitation in coming to the conclusion that the van belonged to Telecom Eireann.
