September 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui was ejected from a US federal courtroom today on the first day of jury selection.
"I am al-Qaeda, they do not represent me," said Moussaoui referring to his lawyers. "They are Americans."
Moussaoui declared: "This trial is a circus" before putting his hands on the back of his head and allowing marshals to take him out.
US District Judge Leonie Brinkema ordered Moussaoui (37), dressed in a green jumpsuit, to be escorted out of the Virginia courtroom just minutes after she began discussing the first stage of jury selection in the trial that will determine if he is executed in connection with the September 11 attacks on America.
Moussaoui is the only person charged in the United States in connection with the September 11 hijacked airline attacks that killed about 3,000 people.
He pleaded guilty last April to all six counts against him, and a jury will now decide if he gets the death penalty or life in prison.
