The number of deaths on the State's roads to date this year is up four on this day in 2004, according to the latest figures.
There have been 80 deaths on the roads in 2005, compared to 76 by the same date last year.

According to the National Safety Council, most road traffic collisions are caused by human error, with driver error accounting for over 80 per cent of all fatal and injury crashes.
The main causes of death and injury on the roads remain speeding, drink driving and non-wearing of seat-belts or a combination of these factors.
Speeding is the cause of a quarter of fatal crashes; drink driving is a factor in over one-third of fatalities on the roads.
