TWO masked and armed men threatened elderly people waiting to collect their weekly pensions outside a Cork city post office yesterday morning. They got away with £80,000 and put a gun to a garda's head.

The post office is run by Mrs Esther O'Sullivan, the wife of the Minister of State for Tourism, Mr Toddy O'Sullivan. As the post office was being opened, the men carrying a sawn off shot gun pushed their way in and demanded the social welfare payments.

As they ran to a stolen Mazda car they met Garda Pat Enright and held the gun to his head. The car was stolen in Cork earlier this week.
