A 17-year-old girl who suffered a head injury when a telegraph pole fell on her parents' car has been awarded £8,000 damages in the Circuit Civil Court. Mr David Richardson, counsel for Ms Niamh O'Rourke, of Kindlestown Park, Greystones, said that despite wearing a seat belt she had been thrown forward and struck her head.
Counsel said that the pole toppled on to the car when a passing truck caught lowhanging overhead wires.
Mr Richardson told the Circuit Court President, Mr Justice Esmond Smyth, who approved an £8,000 settlement offer by Eircom, that the company had conceded liability.
