£4m investment in airport sought

The Government has been urged to invest £4 million in Galway Airport to boost industrial development in the region

The Government has been urged to invest £4 million in Galway Airport to boost industrial development in the region. Yesterday the Minister for Enterprise, Ms O'Rourke, met members of the airport's board.

The chairman, Mr John Coyle, said: "The IDA is under a lot of pressure from the multinationals based in the city to improve the air services between Galway and Dublin." He estimated that an investment of £4 million would be "insignificant" in relation to the return it would bring to the city and county.
