A fabrics manufacturer in Youghal has closed with the loss of 40 jobs in the latest blow to the east Cork town.
Seafield Technical Textiles, a supplier of fabrics for workwear and luggage, blamed the closure on competition from lower-cost economies. Operations will cease by the end of the year.
In recent years, multinationals such as Kodak and Artesyn Technologies have closed factories in the town.
