Ein Al-Hilweh - A gunman wounded four children when he fired at their school bus to stop it from driving up a one-way street at this Palestinian refugee camp, Palestine Liberation Organisation officials said.
They said they arrested Mr Adel Hassanein, who was manning a PLO checkpoint at the western entrance to the Ein al-Hilweh camp and fired at the bus with an AK47 submachinegun. Mr Hassanein said he became annoyed when the driver refused to stop.
Meanwhile yesterday Washington criticised Israeli attacks on Lebanese civilian targets but put most of the blame for the recent violence in south Lebanon on the guerrilla group Hizbullah.
