A new guide to wireless technology was published today by the 3Com corporation to try and demystify new forms of the technology for the Irish market.
The 3Com guide attempts to explain Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G and 4G technology by describing the history of the new technologies, how they developed and what the future is likely to hold.
The guide gives particular advice on Wireless Local Area Networks (LANs), Wireless Wide Area Networks (WANs) and on the 2G, 2.5G and 3G markets. It also promotes Wi-Fi, which it claims offers at least five times the promised speed of 3G.
According to 3Com Ireland sales manager Mr Ray O'Connor, the guide has been published now because the market is right.
"In recent years we have seen explosive growth in the use of wireless mobile communications and now we are seeing the next generation of wireless technology being implemented in offices all over the world".
