Shots were fired at a house in the Cabra area of Dublin in one of a number of incidents over the weekend. Nobody was injured in the shooting, which happened around 8.30 p.m. on Saturday at Annamoe Terrace in Cabra.

A car approached the house and two shots were fired, breaking the sitting-room window and damaging the door. The vehicle, believed to be a red Colt, was driven off in the direction of the North Circular Road. There were three people in the house at the time but nobody was injured. Gardai at Cabra are investigating.

Meanwhile, gardai in Co Kildare have upgraded their inquiry into the death of Mr John William Boland in Monasterevin to a full-scale murder investigation. This follows a post-mortem examination which confirmed he died from stab wounds.

Mr Boland died and his brother was assisted from their house at Ballykelly, just outside Monasterevin, when a fire broke out on Friday evening.
