The new £2 million radiological examination facility at University College Hospital Galway is only the second Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facility to be provided in the public hospital service in the Republic, the Department of Health said this week.

MRI allows doctors to identify conditions or abnormalities which are not open to diagnosis by other more routine examinations.
