24 villagers die in attack

Chiraribigha - Twentyfour villagers were killed and 13 were wounded in the crimeridden eastern Indian state of Bihar in an attack by suspected members of an upper-caste private army on Monday night. Jehanabad District Magistrate, Mr P. Amrit, said a mob of raiders stormed the remote rural village of Chiraribigha overnight, shouting slogans of the Ranvir Sena, a powerful illegal militia formed by uppercaste landlords.
